To London, To London

After travels to England and a few technology glitches, I am, hopefully, back online and publishing posts.  Sorry for the delays.

My daughter and I visited England the first week in May. The purpose of the trip was to see Highclere Castle which is the location for Downton Abbey, a series I watch on PBS.  We were prepared for Spring rains, but the weather was beautiful the entire trip which meant we were able to walk around and experience the various locations up close and personal.  Our first stop was London and our hotel fronted Oxford Street, a busy retail section of London, and only a few blocks from Selfridge's (another series on PBS that I watch). We decided to take a "hop on/hop off" bus tour to see the sites of London since we only had one day to do so.  It was very breezy and a bit chilly, but we stayed on the upper deck most of the trip.

We began our journey at Marble Arch which is adjacent to Hyde Park.  We travelled around London seeing such locations as Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, , The National Gallery, Westminster, Waterloo Station, Theater District,  Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, London's Financial District, Royal Court, Buckingham Palace, Kensington area and Notting Hill area.  So much to see and needless to say I can not remember what all of the buildings were.  These are just some of my favorite spots.

Big Ben as seen through the London Eye.

A typical London street.

The Tower Bridge and the River Thames.

More views of London Tower Bridge and the financial district.

The dragon represents the boundary of London city proper.  If you see the dragon then you know you have entered London.
I won't bore you with my pictures of buildings and such, and there are much better photos of all of the famous locations readily available on the Internet, plus I am more interested in the country and less interested in city life,  so off to Cambridge we go.  Tune in next week to see photos of our drive to Cambridge and other various country spots.

Enjoy!
